COVID-19 Business Support Programs

The Australian and Territory governments have released a new $12.5 million package for Territory tourism businesses impacted by interstate COVID-19 restrictions on movement. These packages recognise that lockdowns interstate impact on the number of visitors coming to the Territory and are resulting in mass cancellations for local businesses.

Visitation Reliant Support Program

A new $9 million Visitation Reliant Support Program is now open for tourism and hospitality businesses reliant on international and interstate visitation. Under the co-funded scheme, employing businesses will receive a $3,000 payment, while sole traders will receive a $1,000 payment. Eligible businesses must have an annual turnover of less than $10 million, and will need to demonstrate a 30 per cent decrease in turnover as a result of travel restrictions. Applications close 30 September 2021.

Tourism Survival Fund

A new $1.3 million Tourism Survival Fund is being rolled out to assist touring companies, professional conference organisers, exhibition build companies and eligible attractions, providing highly targeted support to those operators most impacted by the lack of international visitors. Applications close 30 September 2021.

Territory Tourism Vouchers return

The highly anticipated Territory Tourism Vouchers are back! Territorians dreaming of an NT holiday will be able to register to receive a $200 voucher from 8pm, Monday 4 October 2021 with bookable travel and experiences to be completed by 31 January 2022.

Tourism NT Operational Plan 2021-22

Tourism NT’s operational plan for 2021-22 has been released. The 12 month agency plan aligns resources and activities with Tourism NT’s targets, strategies and actions. The 2021-22 plan acknowledges the challenging operating environment for the NT’s tourism industry and initiatives in place to lead our COVID-19 rebound and response.

Virgin Australia to launch new service

Virgin Australia will launch new services between Adelaide and Darwin from 6 September 2021. This non-stop route will operate four times a week in each direction, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Visitor Experience Enhancement Program grants closing soon

Tourism businesses can apply for up to $50,000 to enhance their offerings and improve the on-ground visitor experience through the Visitor Experience Enhancement Program.

Roadhouses, wayside inns and remote caravan parks can apply for funding of up to $150,000 to support infrastructure improvements to improve their visitor experiences.

NT Muster 2022

NT operators are invited to register their interest to attend NT Muster. The three day roadshow will be held in March 2022 and will take place in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. There will be no fees to attend the roadshow in 2022, however spaces are limited and operators must meet criteria to attend.

Packaging for Profit & Cancellation Workshop

Tourism NT has partnered with Tourism Tribe to deliver a two part workshop on Packaging for Profit and Addressing Consumer Confidence & Cancellations on Tuesday, 7 September 2021. The face to face workshops will take place in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, Litchfield and Nhulunbuy with online options for businesses unable to attend in person.

RED CENTRE NATS REVVING UP

Australia’s ultimate festival of wheels takes place in Alice Springs from 3-5 September and registrations have already exceeded 2020 figures. Last year’s event saw 750 entrants show off their pride and joy, and even more are heading to the Red Centre this year, which is great for local businesses. Sneaky Sound System will lead the famous Podium Party.
