NT Australia’s top social media posts for 2024

The results are in for the top 10 posts on #NTAustralia’s social media channels for 2024… were you featured?

The Alice Springs Desert Park has taken the top spot for the most popular post on Tourism NT’s Instagram channel @NTaustralia for 2024. The adorable reel of a baby tawny frogmouth has captured the hearts of over 2.5 million viewers, with an impressive 263,025 likes.

Ethical Adventures - new tour

Ethical Adventures’ have a new Birds, Breakfast, Buggies and Airboats tour at Finniss River, just 90 minutes from Darwin. Visitors can enjoy a gourmet breakfast, a buggy wildlife safari, and an exhilarating airboat ride through the floodplains, exploring 50,000 acres of diverse landscapes, encountering crocodiles, buffalo, and more.

Desert Romance Picnics - new product

Desert Romance Picnics offer sunrise, sunset, morning tea, and proposal picnics inside the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. They cater for up to 4 people to keep picnics detailed and intimate. All picnics are held at carefully selected locations for the best uninterrupted view of Uluru away from the crowds.

INDUSTRY OPPORTUNITIES

NT Round Up 2025 – Expression of Interest

NT operators are invited to register their interest in attending the NT Round Up event in Alice Springs. Tourism NT is inviting 20 trade professionals to participate in the event and a famil to the Red Centre. NT operators will have the opportunity to engage in a 2.5-hour speed dating session with the invited agents on 28 March, from 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm, at the Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters Convention Centre.

Tourism Distribution Grant Program 2024/25

Eligible Territory tourism businesses can apply for up to $5,000 (excluding GST) funding to support initiatives including an online booking system, translation services and exploring Tourism NT’s international emerging markets of China, Japan and Singapore. Applications close 30 April 2025.

Marine Tourism operations - AMSA Exemption 13 will soon expire

Exemption 13 – Marine Safety (Wildlife or other sightseeing) exemption will expire on 30 June 2025 and will not be reissued.

Before the exemption expires, you will need to hold a certificate of competency, such as a Coxswain Grade 3, or Coxswain Grade 2 - depending on your operations. To ensure the continuity of your operations, please take action at least 90 days before your exemption expires.

Tour Guide Training Support 2024/25 is closing soon!

Tourism NT is providing funding to assist with building a capable tour guide workforce in the Northern Territory (NT).
NT-based tour operators who conduct tours in the NT can apply for up to $5,000 (excluding GST) to train new or upskill existing tour guides. Applications close 28 February 2025.

MXGP of Australia is coming this September

The countdown is on for the world’s top motocross riders in Darwin from September 19 to 21, as the MXGP of Australia makes its Northern Territory debut this September. Returning to Australia for the first time in 25 years, tickets and packages are now available. Day passes start at $45 for Friday, with a $30 Paddock Pass for exclusive behind-the-scenes access. A 3-Day Hot Pass, offering full event access, is available for $150.

Million Dollar Fish Season 10

Visitors are being urged to register for Season 10 of Million Dollar Fish! There are 83 $10,000 red-tagged barra and 10 million-dollar tagged fish still in the Top End.The season runs until 31 March 2025. To be eligible for prize money, you must be over the age of 18 and registered.
