Nominations open soon - 23 March 2026

The Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards (Awards) is the official tourism awards program for the Northern Territory (NT). The Awards recognise tourism businesses that strive for excellence in every area of their operation. The Awards are open to tourism operators, industry suppliers and outstanding individuals who prepare a submission in response to series of question and criteria that measure business excellence.

On 18 March 2026, from 10am to 10.45am join a webinar to hear how to nominate for the 2026 Awards.

Congratulations Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation!

In 2024, 100% ownedy by the Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation the Tennant Creek based Safari Lodge Motel won silver at the National Tourism Awards. Last Friday, the Safari Lodge Motel won gold, being named the top 3-3.5 Star Accommodation provider in Australia.

Tourism and Events NT new powerhouse Board announced

The inaugural Advisory Board has been announced for the NT's new entity, Tourism and Events NT. The appointment of the Board members comes as the NT outlines its vision last year in the Northern Territory Visitor Economy Strategy 2032.

NT Aboriginal Tourism Business Accelerator Program launches

We have officially kicked off the NT Aboriginal Tourism Business Accelerator Program, with 19 Aboriginal tourism entrepreneurs selected to take part in this exciting program. The program is designed to support new and strengthen Aboriginal-owned tourism businesses by providing the tools, skills and support needed to grow sustainable enterprises and develop new tourism experiences and product.

The Indigenous Governance Awards share the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders communities and organisations from across Australia that demonstrate outstanding governance. Applications will close on 20 March 2026.

Tourism Australia appoints new Managing Director

The Tourism Australia Board has appointed Robin Mack as the organisation's new Managing Director, bringing almost 30 years of multi sector global experience within the travel industry to the role. A leader within Tourism Australia for over a decade, Mr Mack has been responsible for overseeing its market strategy and operations across the 16 global markets.

INDUSTRY OPPORTUNITIES 

Now open - Red Centre Tourism Development Fund

Do you have an idea for new tour, stay or attraction in the Red Centre? The Australian Government is offering eligible tourism operators the chance to turn ideas into reality. Its providing $2.5 million in funding to help develop new experiences and products.

Individual grants between $10,000 and $250,000 are now available for projects in Alice Springs, MacDonnell, Barkley and Lasseter tourism regions.

Closing soon - Aboriginal Tourism Product Distribution Grant Program

The grant program supports NT majority owned Aboriginal businesses and organisations to promote and see their tourism experiences and product. Tourism and Events NT is providing a non-competitive funding pool of $50,000 (excluding GST) for online booking systems and for expert distribution advice including pricing structure and rate sheets. Applications will close on 30 April 2026.

Closing soon - Tour Guide Training Support

Tourism and Events NT are providing funding to assist with building a capable workforce in the Northern Territory. Up to $5,000 (excluding GST) is available for NT-based tour operators (applicants) who conduct tours in the NT to train new and upskill existing tour guides (entrants), where the applicant can demonstrate the need for this support.

Applications will close on 31 March 2026.
