Territory broadcast to Australia and beyond

Sam Mac and the Sunrise weather crew recently spent a week travelling through Central Australia and the Top End. Over the week Sam fronted 32 crosses and highlighted 15 major events and experiences that showcase the best of what the Territory has on offer. The crosses generated positive exposure on a national level, to help drive awareness and visitation ahead of our peak tourist season.

Hospitality NT helping businesses as they prepare for a busy dry season

Hospitality NT recently hosted over 50 backpackers in Darwin at a ‘Speed Interview’ event with local hospitality employers.

The event comes off the back of Tourism NT’s ‘Get Paid To Do This’ campaign and Hospitality NT’s Delegation to the UK and Ireland in March.

Visitor Survey Results

Results for the year ending December 2022 visitor survey shows a combined total of 1.66 million visitors to the Territory last year with a total spend of $3.12 billion in the local economy.

Domestic visitors accounted for $2.94 billion of the expenditure and 90,000 international visitors accounting for $181 million in the NT for 2022.

From Reef to Rock

Qantas has announced an increase in flights between Cairns and Uluru (Ayers Rock airport). The daily flight frequency starting in late March 2024 will mean tourists can jump on a plane from the Great Barrier Reef to Uluru in under three hours, seven days a week. This important development supports the highly popular “Rock and Reef” itineraries booked by many international visitors on an Australian tour.

Annual report cards for Destination Management Plans released

Annual report cards tracking the progress of six Destination Management Plans (DMPs) for Territory tourism regions have been released. Identifying key strengths and assets across NT tourism regions, DMPs provide a comprehensive overview of comparative advantages, current product offerings and visitor profiles. The report cards measure the progress of outcomes and includes tonline reviews, visitor numbers and expenditure.

Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair trip

The Northern Territory loves its events and festivals and with this in mind, Tourism NT have put together a three-day trip to the Top End which is the perfect getaway for any art enthusiasts. Darwin's climate is sunny and breezy in August, much like the atmosphere and this trip is guaranteed to bring the different.

Red CentreNATS invites the nation’s petrol heads to ‘meet in the middle’ in the adventure hub of Alice Springs. Strive for excellence in all areas - nominations now open for the 2023 Brolga Awards

The Northern Territory’s official tourism awards program is open for nominations. A range of assistance is available to Northern Territory tourism operators with preparation of submissions for the 2023 Brolga Awards. Nominations are obligation free and will ensure that you receive regular updates.

Round 5 now open for Aboriginal Tourism Grants

A million dollar grant program to enhance the Territory's Aboriginal cultural experience for visitors is now open with round 5 of the Aboriginal Tourism Grant Program open for applications.

NT Aboriginal owned businesses or organisations with a goal to develop or enhance Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences and products can apply for funding between $30,000 and $100,000 (excluding GST).


The funding may be used to upgrade or develop new infrastructure or products such as on country accommodation or sustainable cultural evening experiences.

Darwin's Italian Festival returns this year on Saturday May 13 and promises to be bigger than ever. Located at Darwin Waterfront, this family friendly free event will include an array of food stalls, entertainers and all things Italy.
