TOURISM NT SHINES BRIGHT ON NATIONAL STAGE

Tourism NT has taken out the Award for Collaboration at the 2023 Mumbrella Marketing Awards with its Aboriginal Cultures campaign and the Award for Best Use of Data at the 2023 Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards with its Summer Starts Early campaign.

Both awards followed a rigorous judging process led by the industry’s most senior leaders and celebrated the very best in Australian marketing, advertising, PR and communications.

Singapore Airlines to commence a daily service next year

Territorians will have more travel choices, with Singapore Airlines set to increase frequency of flights between Darwin and Singapore to a daily service next year.
Singapore Airlines (SQ) flights between Singapore and Darwin will increase from five-times weekly to a daily service from 31 March 2024, returning SQ’s frequencies to pre-COVID levels. The flights will be operated by the airline’s B737-8 aircraft, equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi for all KrisFlyer members, including those travelling in Economy Class.

NT’s Tourism Industry Strategy 2030 Update

The NT’s Tourism Industry Strategy 2030, which sets the direction of tourism in the Territory, has recently undergone a three yearly review.
Tourism NT Deputy CEO, Scott Lovett hosted a series of industry briefings throughout the Territory during August on the updated strategy which were well attended and received by industry. Key themes covered in the sessions were revised visitor and expenditure targets, new supply-side targets and three new key themes for focus in the current and next phases of the strategy.
The updated strategy will be published as the NT’s Tourism Industry Strategy 2030 Update (T2030 Update) and is expected to be released publicly in September. Regional presentations and a recording of the Darwin briefing can be found: Strategies | Tourism Northern Territory

Australia Marketplace India 2023

Tourism NT recently attended the Tourism Australia trade event Australia Marketplace India. The three day trade event was held in Bengaluru, with Tourism NT attending 93 10-minute appointments with key qualified travel agencies and wholesalers, along with a networking function in Mumbai. Feedback on the Northern Territory was positive, with Indian travellers expressing interest in the NT as a second visit destination.

Darwin Showcase success!

Together with NT Business Events’ industry partners, the team delivered the annual Darwin Showcase famil program earlier this month. The showcase welcomed 15 business events planners from the national corporate and incentive market. The program was designed to leverage Darwin’s unique festivals and events and included bespoke alfresco events, cultural engagement and authentic local experiences, ensuring attendees experienced a unique, and authentically Territorian business event.

Summer Done Differently campaign update

The Summer Done Differently campaign is continuing to inspire Australians to seek a different kind of summer and book travel to the NT between September 2023 and March 2024.

Since the campaign launch, advertising has been live across television, outdoor, social media and online. Summer travel deals have been available through Webjet, Jetstar, Expedia, Travello, Tripadvisor, Holidays of Australia and Journey Beyond. This week we have also hosted Fitzy, Wippa and Kate from Nova FM in the Top End, with promotion of the NT across the network; including a live broadcast from Darwin.

From September 16, across 5-weeks Australians will also have the opportunity to tune in to Channel 9 travel favourite Getaway for five segments on travelling in the NT over summer.

Australia Marketplace South East Asia 2023

Tourism NT recently attended the Tourism Australia trade event Australia Marketplace South East Asia. The 2 ½ day trade event was held in Singapore, with Tourism NT attending 72 10-minute appointments with key qualified travel agencies, wholesalers and tour operators. The Northern Territory received excellent feedback, and buyers were keen to learn more about the unique experiences that the NT has to offer.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart is now available on Amazon worldwide. Filmed in the Northern Territory, the series showcases the stunning landscapes of Alice Springs including Standley Chasm and Ormiston Gorge. Supported by Screen Territory, the series provided positive economic impact by contributing $1.6 million to the local NT economy, and is now available to watch for over 200 million subscribers. The series reached top five in 78 countries, and top three in a further 42.

Find more customers with the 2023/24 Tourism Grant Program

Tourism businesses across the Territory can now access support to help increase their product offerings in distribution.
The Tourism Distribution Grant Program is designed to increase online book-ability and actively connect with distribution partners to enhance relationships with domestic and international partners.
The program offers flexibility to best support the specific needs of Territory tourism businesses and their focus area for distribution growth.
Program closing date is 30 April 2024 or when funds are exhausted.

Million Dollar Fish - one month until Season 9

It’s no secret the NT is home to some of the best fishing in Australia. This season, we released 100 prize-tagged barra into five incredible fishing regions - Darwin, Kakadu, Arnhem Land, Katherine and the Tiwi Islands.
A total of 20 red-tagged fish were recaptured in Season 8 and over 90 prized fish have been claimed since the competition began in 2015, but the elusive Million Dollar Fish is yet to be reeled in by one lucky fisho.
Season 9 commences in just over a month!
