NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR 2022 BROLGA AWARDS

NT tourism operators, accommodation providers, festivals and events and industry suppliers are encouraged to nominate for the 2022 Brolga Awards. The NT’s official tourism awards program, the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards recognise and encourage tourism businesses that strive for excellence in all areas of their operations.

Assistance is available to help entrants. Nomination submissions close on 31 August and submissions are due by 12 September 2022. The 2022 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards will be held Saturday, 12 November 2022 in Alice Springs.

2022 TOP TOURISM TOWN AWARDS

The Top Tourism Town Awards showcase the value of tourism to towns and communities across Australia and celebrates the diverse and outstanding regional destinations. The Northern Territory is seeking entrants for Top Tourism Town Award, Small Tourism Town Award and Tiny Tourism Town Award. Nominations close 10 May 2022.

NEW TOWN ASSETS FOR VISITORS

Ten projects across the Territory have received a share of more than $800,000 in funding as part of the Tourism Town Standards Assets Program. Designed to assist regional and Town Councils to undertake projects that improve the visitor experience, the funded projects include new wayfinding and interpretive signage, visitor centre upgrades, public art displays and more.

TOURISM EVENING EXPERIENCES

The Tourism Evening Experiences grant program has provided more than $170,000 to 14 tourism operators across the Territory to develop new evening attractions for visitors to enjoy. From twilight tours, dining under the stars to sunset Yoga experiences and more, the new evening experiences will be open and bookable by the end of June 2022.

MUSIC STARS PROMOTING THE NT

A unique new campaign ‘Up in it’ featuring five of Australia’s brightest young music stars promoting the Territory has launched online. Targeting domestic travellers aged 18 – 30 the five part video series features artists sharing their favourite NT itineraries, showcasing hidden gems, local knowledge and secret water holes as well as recommended NT road trips and not to be missed events.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES RETURNS

The Northern Territory welcomed Singapore Airlines first regularly scheduled commercial flight service back to Darwin at the end of March. Offering non-stop flights between Darwin and Singapore, Singapore Airlines will initially operate up to three-weekly services, with intention to increase to five-times a week from June 2022.

INTERNATIONAL RESTART SUPPORT

With the opening of international borders, returning to the international market is important for Territory tourism businesses to re-establish NT brand awareness and attract visitors. Tourism NT has released a one-off support fund for marketing and promotional activities aimed at our international markets. Applications for funding can be made until 30 April 2022, with the activity to be completed by 30 June 2022. The NT Government will contribute 3:1 of the total projects value to a maximum amount of $15,000.

2022 ABORIGINAL TOURISM SURVEY

Are you an Aboriginal tourism business in the NT? Tourism NT is seeking Aboriginal tourism businesses to participate in the 2022 Aboriginal Tourism Survey. The survey will assist business growth targets by continuing to build and understand baseline data as well as ensuring continued support to strengthen the sector.

Funding is available to support the implementation of booking systems for NT Aboriginal tourism businesses. With consumers increasingly choosing to book online, being instantly bookable is a critical element of meeting customer expectations and ensuring that your business receives the booking. Grants of up to $5,000 are available with applications closing 18 May 2022.

PARRTJIMA 2023 CONFIRMED

Parrtjima – A Festival in Light 2022 wrapped up in Alice Springs on 17 April, attracting more than 23,000 attendances across 10 nights and filling the town with visitors. The dates for next year’s free event have been confirmed for 7-16 April 2023.
