SINGAPORE ROUTE TO THE COMEBACK CAPITAL RETURNS

Jetstar Asia has resumed its regular services between Singapore and Darwin following a two year hiatus with the first flight touching down in Darwin earlier this week.

The popular route was first launched in 2008 with Jetstar Asia flying more than 1.2 million visitors between Darwin and Singapore during that time.

Tourism Evening Experiences Grants

The Northern Territory Government is providing a funding pool of $100,000 to assist new or existing NT tourism operators develop a tourism evening experience for visitors to enjoy in NT tourism regions of Darwin, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine, Lasseter, Kakadu and Arnhem Land.

BORDER ENTRY TO THE NT 

The Northern Territory has opened its borders to welcome fully vaccinated interstate and international visitors. Visitors can travel to key tourism destinations outside of the NT community exclusion zones including national parks. To stay up to date on COVID-19 in the NT visit

Aboriginal Tourism Committee

In 2021 we have welcomed new members to the Aboriginal Tourism Committee to guide the implementation of the Northern Territory Aboriginal Tourism Strategy 2020-2030 and contribute to developing sustainable and prosperous Aboriginal tourism enterprises across the NT.

Revamped funding for Territory tourism industry
The Northern Territory Government has reached agreement with the Commonwealth to launch a second round of the Tourism Survival Fund and Visitation Reliant Support program with payments under both programs set to triple.

Aboriginal Tourism Grant Recipients

A total of 12 Territory businesses have been awarded a share of more than $200,000 as part of round three of the Aboriginal Tourism Grant Program. Aboriginal Tourism Grants are targeted to assist Aboriginal owned and operated businesses with projects to reinvigorate and support their tourism experiences.

Tour Guide Ready Program

A unique opportunity exists for tour operators to attract potential tour guides to the Top End and Red Centre through Charles Darwin University's (CDU) Tour Guide Ready Program. CDU partnered with Tourism NT to deliver a free 5-week intensive course which will enable eligible participants to become fully accredited tour guides at either Kakadu National Park or Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, saving them more than $7000 in training fees.

Sustainability Training Program

The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) together with Ecotourism Australia present this two-part sustainability training program, available on-demand. The training modules include, Module 1: Environmental Sustainability and Module 2: Economic and Socio-Cultural Sustainability along with the applicable tools and resources required for business planning. The training is free of charge to ATEC and Ecotourism Australia members. A small fee of $50 + GST applies for non-members.

AFL RETURNS TO THE TERRITORY

Three AFL games will take place in the Territory in 2022, with Gold Coast SUNS playing back-to-back matches in Darwin for Rounds 11 and 12, including the prestigious Sir Doug Nicholls Round. The Melbourne Demons will head to the Red Centre for Round 12. Tickets will be on sale next year.
