STUDENT AND WORKING HOLIDAY MAKER VISA CHANGES

The Australian Government have announced a range of temporary measures to address critical workforce shortages, and to incentivise the return of international students and working holiday makers to Australia. Changes include refunding of visa application fees and a relaxation of employment conditions.

HERMANNSBURG HISTORIC PRECINCT UPDATE

Further conservation work, repairs and upgrades are underway at the Hermannsburg Historic Precinct under a $1.5 million Australian Government funding agreement. These works follow the NT Government’s $3.5 million investment in this nationally heritage listed and significant tourist destination which included restoration works on historic stone buildings and water tanks, upgrades to utility services including water and electricity supplies, and new interpretation facilities. ABORIGINAL TOURISM BUSINESS SURVEY 2022

Tourism NT is currently undertaking a survey with Northern Territory Aboriginal owned tourism businesses as part of Tourism NT’s Northern Territory Aboriginal Tourism Strategy 2020 - 2030 vision for the Northern Territory to be the undeniable leader in the Aboriginal tourism sector. Your participation in this survey will assist in ensuring continued support and strengthening of the Territory’s Aboriginal tourism sector.

TOUR GUIDE READY PROGRAM

A unique opportunity exists for tour operators to attract potential tour guides to the Top End and Red Centre through Charles Darwin University's (CDU) Tour Guide Ready Program. The free 5-week intensive course will enable eligible participants to become fully accredited tour guides at either Kakadu National Park or Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, saving them more than $7000 in training fees.

TOURISM TOP END SUBSIDY OFFER

In recognition of the challenges in rebuilding our tourism industry, the Tourism Top End (TTE) Board is providing further support for members. From January 2022 Tourism Top End will subsidise fees for operators to undertake Quality Tourism Accreditation Business - Level One as part of their full membership for the next two years.
