2021 BROLGA NORTHERN TERRITORY TOURISM AWARD WINNERS

Katherine Outback Experience emerged as a standout performer and retained the Tourist Attractions category award for the third time in a row. They were also crowned as the winner of the Chairman’s Choice for Tourism Excellence.

The former Mayor of Katherine Fay Miller AM was named the winner of the Tourism Minister’s Perpetual Trophy in recognition of her contribution over more than three decades to the Territory’s tourism industry.

EAST ARNHEM LAND DESTINATION MANAGEMENT PLAN RELEASED

The Destination Management Plan for East Arnhem Land has been released, setting out unique advantages and providing a roadmap for future tourism development and investment in the region. Developed by Tourism NT’s partner Developing East Arnhem Limited through extensive stakeholder consultation, the plan identifies strengths and assets in East Arnhem Land, and the aspirations of Yolŋu and Anindilyakwa peoples across the region.

The Northern Territory Government is strengthening its roadmap to keep Territorians safe and reduce the spread of COVID-19 as we transition to reopening with a number of changes coming into effect allowing home quarantine and new testing arrangements.

ACCOMMODATION VENDORS INVITED TO REGISTER AS AN ALTERNATE QUARANTINE PLACE

Accommodation providers in Darwin, Palmerston and Alice Springs can register their interest to be an approved place for alternate quarantine. The expanded home quarantine program includes home and suitable alternate places of quarantine. Accommodation providers can register their interest via email to [email protected]

The Australian Government has released a proposed strategy for the visitor economy: THRIVE 2030 (The Re-Imagined Visitor Economy), a national long-term plan to rebuild and return the visitor economy to long-term sustainable growth. Industry is encouraged to provide feedback on the strategy's proposed actions as well as opportunity to provide further ideas on actions by 5pm, 23 December 2021.

Parrtjima - A Festival in Light will illuminate the Red Centre from 8-17 April 2022, and registrations are open now. Last year’s event drew more than 15,000 people to the heart of Australia from around Australia, with hotels and tourism experiences booked out.

The Parramatta Eels will take on the North Queensland Cowboys at TIO Stadium on 30 April next year as part of the Northern Territory Government’s partnership with the Eels. In 2021 the Eels faced the Brisbane Broncos in the Top End.
