Elevate your international exposure at ATE 2024

Is your export ready tourism business looking for a boost in international exposure? If so, now is the time to apply to participate in Australia’s largest tourism trade event - Australia Tourism Exchange (ATE24) offering unparalleled opportunities to showcase local tourism offerings to buyers from around the world.

The event brings together Australian tourism businesses, and international buyers from more than 30 countries for four days of business and networking events. ATE24 will also provide international buyers with the opportunity to experience Australia’s tourism offerings first-hand through pre and post-event familiarisations.

Achieving a more inclusive and accessible tourism industry

Tourism NT is supporting local operators to increase the Territory’s accessible tourism offerings through a range of new initiatives and support.
The Tourism NT Accessible Tourism Plan outlines steps to achieving a more inclusive and accessible tourism industry in the NT and how to get involved.
Tourism NT, Senior Director Tourism Business Development, Leanne Paige said operators could go online to learn more about how they can expand offerings for people with a disability, making the Territory an even more attractive destination.

Fitzroy River crossing update

Good news for anyone planning a big lap of Australia in 2024.
WA Roads have advised that the Fitzroy River Crossing bridge in Western Australia will be open by the end of the year – 6 months ahead of schedule!
So the big lap is back on, with self-drive routes from the Kimberley to the NT expected to be open in time for our next tourist season.

Caravan industry road map

The Caravan Industry Association of Australia has released an industry road map, a five-point strategy to help guide caravan parks through a difficult market cycle in the insurance industry.
Working with the insurance industry and key national bodies, Caravan Industry Association of Australia has embraced a risk mitigation, data driven and technology approach to answer insurance challenges in the sector, such as pressure on public liability and insurance policies.
The Industry Road Map sets to inform and educate both the broader elements of the insurance industry, as well as caravan parks across the country.

Supporting Katherine's tourism industry

The Territory’s regional towns were a key focus for Tourism NT’s Visitor Experience Enhancement Program (VEEP), with eight tourist facilities in Katherine successful applicants for round seven.

The grant enables the tourism industry to improve the customer experience through product enhancements, generating positive promotion for the Territory.

NT Aboriginal Tourism Forum 2023

Aboriginal tourism operators and organisations are invited to attend this year’s NT Aboriginal Tourism Forum in Alice Springs.
Delivered in partnership with the NT Aboriginal Tourism Committee, the event will bring together local Aboriginal tourism operators for a day of networking, innovation and learning. Attendees will hear from guest speakers on topics such as tourism opportunities in national parks, elevating the NT’s Aboriginal tourism workforce and how to promote local Aboriginal tourism to the world.

Applications are now open for the 2023/24 Tourism Distribution Grant Program designed to increase online book-ability and strengthen links with distribution partners. The program offers flexibility to support individual business needs and areas for distribution growth.

Do you know an organisation thinking about holding an event, activity or project to celebrate Aboriginal culture for Australia Day in 2024?
Did you know that Territory organisations can apply for a grant with the Office of Aboriginal Affairs?
The grant can assist with activities or projects that celebrate and showcase Aboriginal culture, language and history – past, present and future, our way, this Australia Day.
Grant applications are now open.

Second red-tagged $10,000 barra caught

Season 9 of Million Dollar Fish, underwritten by SportsBet, has got off to a great start with two red-tagged $10,000 fish caught just two weeks in. Australia’s richest fishing competition is set to be the biggest season ever, with someone guaranteed to win a million bucks. The competition helps attract interstate visitors, with Season 8 generating a total expenditure stimulus of $70.8 million.
